Two years in the making, Version 3 means it's finally time for
Pro Tools users to experience the quality of everything we do at Stillwell Audio, and to enjoy the way we do it. Do you use a VST3 host? Ask no more, because now we've got you covered as well.

We have a new website (did you notice?) and *tada* please bid welcome to Broadsword, our newest developer. Of course, by 'Everything' we mean 'not quite everything', because PsychoDither is not quite up to V3 (stand by for that!) and 'Microshope' has been discontinued.

To install the plugins…

To install our plugins, just download the evaluation version from the website. For Windows plugins, you’ll get an installation .exe file that will walk you through the process of installing them. Make sure that you choose the correct directory if you already have other plugins installed, especially if you’ve used a non-standard location. The installer tries to be smart and figure out where you already put the plugins, but it’s easy to get that wrong. For Mac plugins, There are standardized locations for all plugins, and we use those. Your downloaded file for Mac will be a .dmg disk image file. When you double-click it the disk will mount and open – there is an installer package inside the image. Double-click the installer package and it will also walk you through the install process.
In both cases (Mac and Windows both) you may need to authenticate to be able to write to protected directories. On the Mac this happens virtually every time. On Windows it will depend on your operating system version and on whether you have UAC enabled.

Regarding registration…

There is no “Registered version” of the plugins…the evaluation copies you download from our website ARE the registered copies…IF you have a valid key file for them. You should have received an email containing a link to download a “.key” file within a few minutes of receiving the emailed receipt for your purchase.
Download and save that file to your hard disk. Keep it safe – you can always download the plugin from the website, but the key file is harder to get back after the fact.
Download promptly after purchase – the key file links expire after seven days. The links can be reset, but it’s easier and faster to just get it while it’s fresh off the press.
For Windows plugins, copy the key file to the same directory as your plugin .dll, .dpm, or .aaxplugin file. That’s all!
For Macintosh plugins, copy the .key file in the same folder as where you put the .component, .vst, .dpm, or .aaxplugin bundle. That’s all!
Some email clients and web browsers rename the .key files when saved to disk as .key.txt. If this happens, simply rename them back to the correct name by removing the .txt from the end of the name. Do not edit or change the .key file in any way or you will very likely break it, resulting in (at best) a non-working registration, and at worst, you’ll cause the plugin to crash your host with an exception. Also, the file may show with an icon on your computer indicating that it is a Registry key entry or an Apple Keynotes file…it is NOT. Do not attempt to load into the registry or Keynotes by double-clicking it…it won’t work.
For both Windows and Mac OS X be sure to copy the key file to all locations where the plugin exists – if you’re using both VST and AU, or VST3 and AAX, or all of the above, make sure that the key file exists everywhere that you have a copy of the plugin executing.
Please be sure to store a copy of the file in a safe place. If you lose your license file, you will no longer have a registered plugin. We’ll do our best to help you out, but without adequate proof of purchase and identity we may not be able to reissue a license. Better to just keep your stuff safe and backed up.
If you DO lose your key due to system crash or similar, and you’ve purchased within the last few years (your order number would begin with STI rather than U), just send an email to orders at fastspring dot com and reference your order number – they’ll fix you up and reissue the license file and emails as needed. If you don’t have your order number, you may need to provide additional information to allow them to find the order and prove you’re entitled to it, but they’ll get it done…they’re good folks.
If you run into problems not addressed here, feel free to head over to the forums or to open a support ticket – we’ll get you fixed up.

We believe that virtually all people will do the right thing when given the chance to do so, and that users should not be punished for the actions of other bad actors. So with that in mind, here’s how our licensing works.
  • Our plugins process sound in exactly the same way whether you have a license or not. No beeps, no noises, no dropouts. Bit-for-bit identical.
  • There is no “time bomb” limitation in our evaluation plugins. They just keep working.  No technical limitations, only legal/moral ones.
  • Our plugins MAY contain a nag screen that prompts you to “Do the right thing” until a license is in place, or may just display their registered/unregistered status in the user interface, because we DO want you to buy a license.  Clicking on the nag screen may take you to our website as a reminder.
  • If you are using the plugins for non-commercial use AND you are using REAPER ( as a host, there is a discounted license available.  This license is ONLY valid within REAPER – if you open the plugin in another host it will still show as unregistered.  All other combinations of non-commercial/commercial and host software should buy a full license.  “Non-commercial” means what it says.  If you get paid, it’s commercial.  If you produce a demo CD and sell it at your merch table, it’s commercial.  Record music and play it for your friends and family, or in the course of taking a class somewhere, or just plain give it away?  Non-commercial.
  • There are no other discounts or bundle prices available.  We believe that bundle discounts are just a way to bump up the price of the individual plugins to make the bundle look like a discount.  We’d rather just make the plugins affordable even if you buy just one.
  • We offer a 30-day evaluation period.  There are no technical limitations in place to enforce this, but by downloading and installing the plugins, you are agreeing to abide by the terms of our license agreement.  After 30 days you should either purchase a license or remove the plugin(s) from your machine.
  • Bought a license?  It’s good for two machines – studio and home?  home and laptop?  It’s all good – you’re covered.
  • The evaluation plugin downloads on the website ARE the registered copies.  When you buy a license, we send you a link to download a personalized key file.  Drop the key file in the same folder as the plugin and it’s registered.  Done!  More instructions about this are given on the Installation page and in our forums.

Hope that helps make things clear – Feel free to open a thread on the forums if you have more questions.
Another update has been posted to the website.  Primary features for this release are:
  • Corrected issue where upgrading to Pro Tools 11.2 disabled stereo versions of plugins.
  • Where factory presets existed for VST and other formats, they now should also exist for RTAS and AAX.
  • VST3 factory presets for Windows didn’t make it into the previous release due to a build error – fixed.

As always, this is a no-cost update, just download and install over your existing version.  Always practice safe computing and keep backups, right?

Auto-Tune 8

Freedom of Expression

Whether you want to quickly touch up a few questionable notes or meticulously polish an entire performance, Auto-Tune 8 offers the natural sounding, pristine results you desire. Auto-Tune 8 comes loaded with new features, including Flex-Tune natural real-time pitch correction, an ultra low-latency mode and a more customizable interface to streamline your editing process.

Auto-Tune 8 works in two modes: Automatic Mode, designed to be intuitive for users of all abilities and a more technical Graphical Mode for advanced users.

For most common pitch problems, Auto-Tune 8's Automatic Mode detects input pitch and instantaneously adjusts it to the closest pitch in a user-specified scale (including major, minor, chromatic and 26 historical and microtonal scales).

Auto-Tune 8's Graphical Mode, used for meticulous pitch and time editing, displays the performance's detected pitch envelope and allows you to modify pitch and timing with a variety of graphics tools. This mode gives complete control over the correction or modification of the most elaborate pitch and rhythmic gestures.

Key New Auto-Tune 8 Features

Automatic Mode

Correction Style ControlFlex-Tune Natural Pitch Correction Technology: Other real-time pitch correction methods, including previous versions of Auto-Tune, pull every note towards a scale note. In contrast, Flex-Tune only provides correction when the vocalist approaches a scale note.  At all other times, they are free to sing with whatever vocal gestures best express their emotional connection to their song, secure in the knowledge that Auto-Tune 8 will pass them through, exactly as they are sung.

Low Latency Mode: Auto-Tune 8's new ultra-low latency mode allows for Auto-Tune use when tracking or during live performance, letting vocalists monitor their performance with no disorienting delay.

Graphical Mode

Editing Tools Active During Playback: For those who prefer editing on the fly or with looped segments, Auto-Tune 8's editing tools are now active during playback, so you never has to stop and restart just to hear the results of an edit.

Audio Feedback of Note Object Pitch: Auto-Tune's Note mode was already the easiest way to re-pitch already recorded melodies. In Auto-Tune 8, you can choose to have any note edits provide audio feedback of the note's pitch, so selecting new notes is just a matter of using your ears.

Hide or Show Amplitude Envelope in Main Edit Display: You can now choose to hide or show the amplitude envelope plot in the main edit window.

Hide or Show Envelope Display: You can now choose to hide or show the dedicated envelope display. This is particularly useful when working on a laptop, where screen real estate is at a premium.

Increased Maximum Timeline Resolution in Bars + Beats Mode: The maximum resolution of the timeline in Bars + Beats mode has been increased to 16th notes.

Automatic Update Notification: To make sure you always have the latest and the greatest, Auto-Tune 8 will notify you whenever an update to the plug-in or an upgrade is available.

The Professional Standard

For well over a decade and a half, Auto-Tune has stood alone as the worldwide standard in professional pitch (and more recently, time) correction. Now, with Auto-Tune 8, the introduction of Flex-Tune establishes a new standard of natural real-time pitch correction. Also, with Auto-Tune 8, it's virtually impossible to know that Auto-Tune had been used on a track.

Auto-Tune 8: Enjoy the freedom of expression.

Xfer Records – Serum 1.07b4 STANDALONE, VSTi, AAX x86 x64 + presets

The dream synthesizer did not seem to exist: a wavetable synthesizer with a truly high-quality sound, visual and creative workflow-oriented interface to make creating and altering sounds fun instead of tedious, and the ability to “go deep” when desired – to create / import / edit / morph wavetables, and manipulate these on playback in real-time.
1.07b4 changes:
* fixed: for selecting “init preset” while notes are playing
* fixed: for chaos oscillators resetting the chaos algorithm when no notes were playing
* fixed: for using variables q and z together in a formula in the WT editor could lead to NaN output
* fixed: dragging NOTE and VELO mod-source tiles on Windows ncould lead to a crash
* fixed: Filter cutoff Hz (numeric value display) was incorrect in some situations
* fixed: Drag and Drop import in Ableton Live OS X 64-bit could appear “stuck” or crash
* fixed: WT Editor, it was possible to draw on a different table than visually selected
* fixed: extremely large sample sizes in WT formula editor were displaying improper text for note name
* added: support for drag-and-drop to wavetable (import for audio files) from Cubase Media Bay
1.07b3 changes:
* The internal FX filters (specifically the ones used in Hyper, Chorus, and Flanger FX modules) no longer internally clip. While I consider this an improvement (sonically), this could lead to presets that use these FX sounding subly different if the input to the effect was overloading, most likely this only happened if the preset was played polyphonically (holding multiple notes down). I would expect the sound should be considered “better” in most circumstances when different, but if you are reloading saved projects that use heavy FX after Serum (e.g. distortion FX after Serum) you could notice a sound change. Therefore, I would suggest to keep 1.072 around if you wish to A-B the sound in any situations. I can provide this download if needed (email me). If this change is a burden to anyone, don’t hesitate to make your voice heard, I could add a legacy switch to re-introduce the clipping as an option, but I would rather avoid doing that, for CPU savings.
* new Matrix window menu (top-right) -> sort mod matrix slots by Source or Destination. This should not be used in projects where you are (already) automating matrix depth sliders in the host.
* Effects “Smart Disable” when signal is below -180 dB for a period of time. This saves CPU on “idle” serum instances for hosts/situations where the host isn’t providing a similar ability.
* improved filter quality / effectively eliminated the “low-level aliasing” in most filter algorithms
* fixed: LFO delay and rise time controls weren’t getting host tempo change notifications making their durations incorrect in some situations.
* fixed: closing the preset browser by using the ‘show preset browser’ button (as opposed to close button) was leaving LFO’s in a non-updated state
* fixed: closing the preset browser could leave oscillators in a non-redrawn state.
* fixed: Save Preset file dialog folder default location was not always defaulting correct on windows systems in 1.072
I completely recreated Serum’s installer using Inno Setup and added some
some nice features like a standalone version and the deletion of the old key
to re-register Serum.
This time also available is a very big (2,52GB) installer as
an iso image which includes nearly all available preset packs and so round about 6000 presets which are
selectable on the components site.
Just hover with your mouse over the components to view
infos about size, who released/provided it and more.
